MEHMET HABBAB Delta Group Chairman of the Board of Directors

Mehmet Habbab started his business career in 1970 by setting up an office equipment company in conjunction with the U.S. firm Smith Corona. He developed and built up the business in the next decade to become a leader in the office equipment market in Turkey. 

In the early eighties, Mehmet Habbab entered into the oil business by forming the Delta Petroleum Co., which grew to become one of the leading oil services and trading companies in Turkey with a large installation in Southern Turkey on the Mediterranean Sea and another in Georgia on the Black Sea. The company is engaged in trade in the Middle East and is a major supplier to Iraq since 2003, having had relations with SOMO of Iraq for over 25 years. In 2012 the Group entered into mining in Turkey and is now one of the top 10 mining companies in Turkey in the field of CHROMIUM MINING. 

Mehmet Habbab has served on several bodies as Chairman or Member of the Board. He is the Chairman of the Turkish-UAE Businessmen Council at DEIK, Vice Chairman of the Turkish-Lebanese Businessmen Council, Vice Chairman and Coordinator for Middle East Businessmen Council and recently has been appointed as the Chairman for the newly formed Turkish-Arab Businessmen Federation. 

Mehmet Habbab serves on the International Board of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is also an ex-Chairman of YPO Turkey and an active member at present.

SAMİ HABBAB Delta Group Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors

As the CEO of Delta Star, Sami Habbab oversees the investments of the Group and drives their growth strategies.Historically he has been managing Group’s diversified businesses, which comprised from oil & gas midstream and downstream assets, freight and logistics operations, mining to commodity trading activities. He has worked extensively in international projects and businesses in a wide region, ranging from Africa to the Middle East. 

Prior to that, he was also the CEO of the liquid bulk storage and port infrastructure business of the Group, which had Terminals in Turkey and Georgia and which was one of the leading oil storage companies in the whole of Mediteranea region with over 650,000 cbm of storage capacity and a 2.5 km port infrastructure with six berthing stations. He worked in the liquid bulk storage and port sector for the last ten years doubling the size of the business. The Group partnered with an international partner and later sold its share to them. During his leadership, he worked closely with international refineries and internationally renown commodity trading companies as well as national oil companies. Before that, he worked as a Corporate Finance Analyst for three years in the Investment Banking Division of Salomon Smith Barney, Citigroup. 

Sami graduated with an MBA Degree from Kellogg Business School - Northwestern University and prior to that he graduated from the Wharton Business School with a BS Degree. Sami is a board member of DEIK Energy Council (Foreign Economic Relations Board) of Turkey, member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), ex-Board Member of GYIAD (Young Turkish Businessmen Association).

SELİN ÖZKAYNAK Member of the Board of Directors

Selin Özkaynak completed her high school education at Private Boğaziçi High School and continued with her undergraduate education at the Department of Marketing and Communication at George Washington University of U.S.A. After working in several positions at Louis Vuitton Paris, IMAGE Public Relations, Mercedes-Benz Türk, Doğuş Automotive and Garanti Bank, she brought the French Jacadi children clothing and furniture brand to Turkey with her entrepreneur venture, founded and expanded the brand here. Selin Özkaynak is married and is the mother of two boys.
